If your chosen themes accommodate one another, you can create a unifying theme. Consider this: your spouse wants an Asian theme, your teenage daughter wants a gothic theme and you want a tropical theme. In such varied combination you may decide to do an around-the-world theme in your living room; this is like a miniature version of Disney's Epcot. You could incorporate Asian tropic plants, dragons and samurai swords that would incorporate all three themes. The point is, regardless of the themes, there is common ground to be found.
We all want our homes to look great. Often we focus on one room at a time, get that how we want it then move onto the next. This is a really great strategy as it means you stay focused. Today we will be focussing on the living room and coming up with some living room ideas.
The more themes you incorporate, the more creative you will have to be but the process is basically the same. It will also depend how similar or different the themes are. Combining some themes like an Asian theme and Zen theme would be easier than a Zen theme with a rock-star theme. The primary task here is to identify the common factor in the living room ideas. For instance, in combing an Asian and Zen theme, you would incorporate a more natural Asian representation like bamboo, jade and the concept of feng shui. You could also incorporate meditation cushions that would be used in Zen lifestyle and simultaneously represents a classic Asian seating arrangement.
